Hello, friends!
Sorry for the long pause of blogs... Hope it does not happen again!
So, Let's Start.
Nav Ratri
Navratri translates to nine nights. (Nav - nine Ratri - night)
There are many reasons why we celebrate this festival. Let me tell 2 of them.
1
Ram - Not Ram aka Ram & Sonu Ram but the Ram, with Laxman and Hanuman who went to get back his dear wife Sita. Navratri is celebrated as Ravan - an asura* who captured Sita in Sri Lanka, Was killed by Ram and team.
2
Durga, a goddess who was blessed by the gods killed Mahisasura - another asura.
Asura means demon and these 2 demons really caused a lot of trouble to humans and Devas. Devas are the good people.
In my place (Chennai) we celebrate Navratri by putting Golu - Small, odd numbered steps decorated with dolls.
I also like to add that pinch of creativity by making a small rack with arranged toys.
We would love to know how you celebrate it in your place! Share with us in the comments!
Okay! Stay tuned for my next one! Till then, Bye

We used to keep very diligently. Shyamala paati and Bhuvan thatha had a nice collection. Now, i have fond memories but no Golu.
